Ed Zuckerman

Ed Zuckerman has agriculture in his blood. He is a third generation, California farmer. His grandfather was one of three brothers who settled in Stockton, and began farming in the Delta almost one hundred years ago. Ed spent his high school summers working on the family farm. He attended the University of the Pacific, graduating in 1975 with degrees in political science and business. His farming career began in earnest in 1978, when he brought a new crop to the San Joaquin Delta. That crop was turfgrass sod, and within a few years Delta Bluegrass Company was a thriving enterprise. Today, forty years later, Zuckerman’s sod company is the largest in Northern and Central California.

Currently, Ed and his business partner, Dennis Gardemeyer farm approximately 10,000 acres of diverse crops within several business entities. Zuckerman-Heritage Inc. farms and markets the sod under the Delta Bluegrass Company brand name. Zuckerman Family Farms is a grower, packer, and shipper of a diverse lineup of crops, including commercial potatoes, seed potatoes, tomatoes, wine grapes, olives, and grain crops. Ed serves as President and CEO of the above companies.

Ed’s past leadership positions include a stint as trustee of Turf Producers International. He served as President of the association in 2003. He has also held the presidency of the California Sod Producers Association, which he helped form over 20 years ago. Zuckerman’s experience with American Ag Credit spans many years, starting as a Director with Ag Credit Financial, which continued through its merger with American Ag Credit in 2005. Ed currently serves as chairman of the Stockholders Advisory Committee for the valley region of American Ag Credit. He is also a Director of the Central Delta Water Agency, advocating for protecting and restoring the Delta ecosystem.

Ed is happily married to his wife Sarah and together they have five grown children. He is an active, outdoor enthusiast, with hobbies including water skiing, duck hunting and snow skiing.
